Accountant/Bookkeeper
Job Description
The Accountant/Bookkeeper will manage approximately 20-25 accounts, including documenting transaction details, entering financial transactions, bank and credit card reconciliations, project management system reconciliations, managing A/P and A/R, organizing financial reports, and communicating with clients. The ideal candidate has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The Accountant/Bookkeeper must be able to understand and explain financial reports to the client, receive feedback, and make necessary journal entries and adjustments. The ideal candidate understands the importance of client confidentiality and privacy, is self-motivated, and is highly organized. The ideal candidate recognizes the necessity of adhering to deadlines and working independently.
Responsibilities & Duties
Reconciliations:
Conduct reconciliation of all accounts, including bank and credit card accounts, sales tax liability accounts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
Reporting:
Enter data, maintain records, and create reports and financial statements
Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data
Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards
Accounts Payable:
Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function, including reviewing, coding, and processing payments
Pay bills through QuickBooks Online.
Book transactions to their respective vendors and customer jobs
Accounts Receivable:
Perform account receivable functions, including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
Create invoices from completed jobs reflected on timesheets
Sales Tax:
Reconcile sales tax liability reports for multiple jurisdictions
File and remit sales tax payments for multiple jurisdictions
Respond to client questions regarding sales tax laws and guidelines
Research and resolve any client accounting-related issues in QuickBooks or the client’s project management software
Payroll:
Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner and submit payroll taxes
Gather payroll data from clients
Analyze all hours worked, including any overtime
Input all relevant data into QuickBooks Online and process payroll
Other:
Support the year-end close process for multiple clients
Manage year-end W9 collection for 1099 processing
Develop positive relationships with clients
Complete financial analysis and special projects
Discuss amendments to the client’s Scope of Work

Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree required (or five years of relevant bookkeeping/accounting experience)
2+ years of related work experience required
A basic knowledge of interior design practices and procedures is preferred
Experience with GSuite and Microsoft Office programs
QuickBooks Online experience required
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High level of integrity and professionalism
Must be able to work independently

Work Location
This remote position requires frequent in-person meetings in Dahlonega, GA 30533. The employee must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work. Mileage and lodging will not be paid for the required in-person meetings.
